About Westwind - Meet the Staff
Valarie Bittner M.A. CPC
Valarie is a Certified Canadian Counsellor through the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and a member of the Eating Disorders Association of Canada. She has a Masters degree in Counselling and has been practicing as a therapist in the field of eating disorders since 2002. In addition to her clinical experience, Valarie has enjoyed instructing college counselling courses, and delivering presentations regarding eating disorder awareness and treatment. She is available to her clients to explore their spiritual values, and help each client discover how these values apply to their own individual recovery journey. Tresa Clemmensen M.Sc. CCC
Tresa is a Certified Canadian Counsellor through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and a member of the Eating Disorders Association of Canada. She has a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. Tresa has been practicing as a therapist in the field of eating disorders since 2003. Katrina Wilson M.A. RPC
Katrina has a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and is a member with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association. Katrina joined the staff at Westwind in 2012, after completing her clinical practicum with the residential program. In addition to her work with eating disorders, Katrina has experience counselling children and youth who have been exposed to domestic violence. Michelle Reichert R.D.
Michelle is a Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba. She has been a member of the Dietitians of Canada since December 2006 and has been working as a Dietitian since August 2009. Michelle has worked in both community and clinical settings and has experience working in a variety of nutrition related areas including: diabetes, heart health, digestive disorders, allergies and intolerances, and sports nutrition to name a few. She has been practicing in the field of eating disorders since September 2010 and is passionate about helping individuals gain confidence in their eating habits through mindful and intuitive eating practices and by promoting the health at every size model. Michelle is also bilingual and communicates in both English and French.
Lauren Paquette R.D.
Lauren is a Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba, as well as the Dietitians of Canada. She started working with Eating Disorders in 2004 and is passionate about what she does. She works in collaboration with clients to empower them. Although no longer living in Brandon she is available to share her expertise through skype or phone.
Senior Support Staff
Jennifer has achieved her 2 year certificate in Applied Counselling and is currently pursuing a psychology degree at Brandon University. Part of Jennifer's history includes her own struggle with an eating disorder. Having gone through recovery herself and overcome the disorder, she continues to move forward and looks at providing hope for others to do the same.
Kylie Esteves MPT, BSc
Kylie is a physiotherapist at Element physiotherapy and a yoga instructor at the Zen Zone. She holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Manitoba. Kylie has been a physio since 2014 and a yoga instructor since January 2016. Her practice and teaching style are rooted in Vinyasa Yoga where the breath guides the rhythmical, flowing movements of the body. Kylie is passionate about working with people, promoting physical activity, and sharing her love of yoga. She is bilingual, communicating in both English and French.
Bryan Gusdal M.A.
Clinical Consultant / Founder
Bryan founded Westwind Eating Disorder Recovery Centre in 1998, following a 26 year career as a clinical psychologist where he gained extensive experience working with people with eating disorders and related issues. Bryan’s vision and counselling philosophy shaped Westwind’s treatment model and continues to be a cornerstone of Westwind’s current treatment. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Psychological Association for ten years, having also served a term as their President, and is an ongoing member of the Academy for Eating Disorders. Bryan continues to contribute his expertise through consultation.
